BIKE MarComm Program

To support sustainable transportation options, alleviate parking challenges, and encourage wellness activity, University Marketing & Communications owns two bicycles. They are located off the Lobby in the vending room. The bike room is locked at all times and can be unlocked with your office key.

Bicycles are to be used exclusively for University business. They are not for personal use.

Before using a bike, sign it out on the designated sheet at the reception desk.

Each bike has a combination lock. The combination number is available at the reception desk when you sign out the bicycle. Each bicycle has the same combination number. Please do not share this combination with anyone outside of University Marketing & Communications. The locks must be used at all times when the bikes are not in use, whether at a bike rack on campus or stored at 276 N. Skinker.

Below are details regarding biking on campus.  Bike responsibly and have fun!

Bicycle Parking

Bicycles may be parked at any bike rack on campus. They cannot be locked to undesignated objects such as trees, benches, and railings and will be removed from those areas, especially if the bike impedes access to a building.  On-campus bike racks near academic buildings are intended for use only by daily commuters and should not be used for long-term storage.  Covered bike parking is located near residential housing areas for longer-term storage.  Bikes cannot be stored on any bike rack over summer break unless the rack has been designated for bike storage.

Riding Etiquette

Cyclists on campus must be careful to yield the right of way to pedestrians at all times.

Fixit Self Tune-Up Stations

There are currently four Fixit stations on the Danforth Campus (see Sustainability brochure below for locations). The stations include a variety of tools necessary to perform basic bike repairs and maintenance, from adjusting brakes to changing a flat.

The WashU Office of Sustainability has a website about bicycling on campus that includes a map of bicycle paths and the locations of bike racks, Fixit self tune-up stations and Metro stops on campus as well as a variety of cycling tips and resources. It can be found here.
