From time to time, Washington University’s Julian Edison Department of Special Collections receives external requests for permission to use images owned by Washington University in new publications, exhibits, or other projects. Special Collections and University Marketing & Communications collaborate on these requests. If a MarComm team member receives a request, direct them to the Julian Edison Department of Special Collections spec@wumail.wustl.edu or 314-935-5495.
When such a request comes in University Marketing & Communications works with the University Archivist to see if we can fulfill the request.
If so, our two offices collaborate on the approval process, which includes University Marketing & Communications approval and the Archives Image License Agreement.
