Toner Cartridge Recycling

Toner and ink jet cartridges have always been a nuisance when it comes to disposing of them in an environmentally friendly way. In an attempt to standardize toner cartridge recycling in the University Marketing & Communications Office the following procedures have been established.

  1. All used Xerox supplies are to be given to Galen Harrison for recycling. Xerox has a recycling program for Xerox-branded consumables which is described here. Galen has an “Eco Box” in his office for collecting the used supplies and for shipping to Xerox when the box is full.
  2. All other toner cartridges can be recycled via Office Essentials (OE) which is explained here. To participate in this program all non-Xerox toner and inkjet cartridges should to be packed in the box the replacement cartridge came in and the box needs to be labeled on the outside with the words “OE Toner Empty Return”.
Give the box to the person at the reception desk.
When Office Essentials makes a delivery to the Public Affairs Office the person at the reception desk will give the box(es) with the empty toner cartridge to the OE delivery person.
